Welfare Incomes
Welfare Incomes is the only report available that estimates total welfare incomes in each province and territory in Canada. It shows welfare incomes for four household types in each jurisdiction - a single employable person, a single person with a disability, a lone parent with a 2-year-old child and a two-parent family with two children aged 10 and 15 - for a total of 52 scenarios. The NCW has calculated similar estimates since 1986. To measure the adequacy of welfare incomes, we use a number of measures including Statistics Canada's low income cut-offs (LICOs), the Market Basket Measure (MBM), median income and average income.
