Poverty Profile 2001 is the latest annual report on poverty by the National Council of Welfare. The report features information about the number of poor people in Canada and poverty rates for both individuals and families. In addition to examining the incidence of poverty, information about its severity is presented in the depth of poverty chapter. The persistence, or duration, of poverty is also discussed as well as sources of income of poor people and the relationship between poverty and paid work. The report concludes with a chapter on income inequality, or the way in which personal income is distributed in the population as a whole.
